This 1984 Buick Grand National is an icon of 1980s muscle. It is one of only 2000 produced in 1984. This particular model has had a lot of work done to it and has been well cared for. Recent work consists of repainting the body, converting and servicing the air conditioning system, installing a performance ECU chip, Bilstein shocks, new BFG tires, replacing water pump, radiator, spark plugs, fan clutch, turbo lines, and valve cover gaskets, interior components, and brake pads.
Power is provided by the legendary turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in black (of course) over Sand Gray cloth with rare Lear Siegler cloth/leather seats. Features include a limited-slip differential, 15″ aluminum wheels, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear spoiler, cruise control, and a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo that was fitted with a Bluetooth receiver.
The car was repainted in black in 2023 and exterior details include a sculpted hood (i.e. power bulge), a rear window defogger, sport mirrors, a decklid spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ aluminum wheels are mounted with 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Bilstein shocks were installed in 2024 and the brake pads were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel-level gauge. Aftermarket gauges for turbo boost, oil pressure, and coolant temperature have been installed. The five-digit odometer shows 19k miles, and the Carfax report lists a “potential odometer rollback” as well as a subsequent “mileage inconsistency.” It is pretty clear that someone typo'd a mileage entry at one point, triggering the alert, and actual mileage is 119,000, but we will call it TMU (true milage unknown) to be on the safe side.
The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 was factory rated at 200 horsepower (very strong for its era) and an impressive 300 lb-ft of torque. This is the engine that proved there actually is a replacement for displacement as it ran off from the Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes of its day. Work since 2023 consists of installing a K&N air filter, a rebuilt alternator, and replacing the water pump, radiator, spark plugs, fan clutch, turbo lines, and valve cover gaskets. An oil change was most recently performed in April 2026. A performance ECU chip is installed.
The Carfax report is free of accident or damage entries. This car is the coolest kid on the block and is ready to rock and roll.
